Chakad Kansar Kavan Elica Company was established in 2016 with the participation of university professors and experts active in the mining, geology, and construction sectors, to produce stone-based lightweight materials. Based on scientific knowledge and research findings, the company's members succeeded, for the first time in the country, in producing stone-based industrial pumice.
The main difference between the production process of stone-based lightweight aggregates and clay-based lightweight aggregates lies in the fact that, unlike clay-based aggregates—which require the addition of fuel oil and pelletizing before firing—in this method, stone with a certain amount of organic matter enters the kiln after grading without any additives. Once the firing temperature is reached, the material expands three to four times in volume and is then discharged from the kiln.
Experimental production of industrial pumice using this method was first launched in Iran in 2017 at the Kavian Industrial Zone, located on the Mashhad–Fariman road. The process of producing stone-based lightweight industrial pumice was officially registered with the Office of Industrial and Intellectual Property in 2018. The technical certificate of this product was also obtained from the Building and Housing Research Center in 2021. In line with the company’s development strategy and to increase production capacity, a new factory was commissioned in the Tangolshour region in 2022.
